A defining milestone years in the making, Byron Bay’s most exclusive address has now Topped Out.
Secret Garden, located at 121 Jonson Street, is set to be one of the largest mixed-use developments in the region, spanning over 7,000m². The boutique collection of 22 luxury residences, elevated above a curated mix of fashion, lifestyle, and hospitality tenancies, will introduce a new calibre of living to the Byron Bay luxury real estate market.
Byron Bay property developer, JD, has partnered with renowned Melbourne builder, Cobild, whose expansion into the Northern Rivers includes Secret Garden as one of its first key projects in the area. Reaching Top Out also brings the architectural vision into sharper focus, with the design by BayleyWard now visible above the hoarding and beginning to shape its presence on the high street.
Since acquiring the site on Jonson Street in 2021, JD has been guided by a clear ambition for the experience Secret Garden will offer residents, locals and visitors alike. More than a residential address, the project has been conceived as a meaningful addition to Byron Bay’s Jonson Street, bringing together elevated living, carefully considered retail, and a strong connection to place.
Despite early challenges posed by Ex-Cyclone Alfred during basement works, the Cobild team recovered valuable time throughout the build. Reflecting on the Top Out milestone, JD Director Jason Dunn said the progress made since commencing works in 2024 speaks to the commitment and capability of everyone involved.
“I’m extremely proud of the team on site for their consistent hard work, and to reach Top Out ahead of schedule is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved in bringing Secret Garden to life,” he said.
Site works now turn to service installation, before the focus turns to fit-out, materiality, and the refined interior spaces that will define this Byron Bay landmark ahead of completion in 2026.
